I realize Kami isn’t the character’s real name, and that in truth, she hasn’t been given a name, but well, it’s the best I’ve got right now… So… Please work with it, ok?

As far as Kami not being there for Maka: She works at the River’s crossing. The river? The three rivers are similar to the three Sanzu lines. (Yes, I’m straying away from true legend, but, if Stephanie Myers can do it and make millions, maybe I’ve got a shot at something too) The three lines separate the three worlds. The first river is that of the mortal realm, my daughter, her friends, and my ex-husband live there. The second river is where the claimed souls are sent to. After the miesters collect them, they appear in the boats that come to my lake. At the lake, I separate the souls from good and evil. The good souls are sent to eternal peace, were they are given rest. The evil souls are cleansed and sent to be reincarnated so that they may relive a life in the mortal realm to compensate for their sins. How are they cleansed? They must fight there way through the third river. The current is strong, and if they give in, they’ll be sent to the pits of Hades. My job is done by one person for their adult lifetime, so I cannot leave the lake to see my sweet Daughter. I have recently however, been given a laptop with wifi… Isn’t this splendid?

As far as Spirit goes: She’s aware he’d rather have a particular doctor in his bed, and she’s upset that he lied to her for so long, and fairly resentful (hence her fight for Maka’s custody despite being deployed for the rest of her life). But she doesn’t necessarily hate him.
